Select base metals like, nickel copper and zinc price rose in the range of Rs 3-10 a kg in the non-ferrous metal market here today following emergence of buying interest from consuming industries and stockists on the back of higher London Meta l Exchange advices.
Market men said speculative buying on the back of higher global advices mainly pushed up select base metal prices. In London Metal Exchange (LME), nickel shot up by $950 at $29500, copper rose by $235 at $8075 and zinc gained by $60 at $2330 per metric t onne.
In local market, nickel plate (4x4), (9x9) and (4x24) swifted by Rs 10 each to Rs 1395-1460, Rs 1400-1470 and Rs 1410-1480 a kg respectively.
Copper wire scrap, copper super d rod, copper wire bar, copper mixed scrap, c c rod, utensil scrap and mixed scrap all moved up by rupee 3 each to close at Rs 340, Rs 365, Rs 360, Rs 320, Rs 350, Rs 305 and Rs 300 a kilo respectively. Zinc slab and zinc dross also posted higher from Rs 125 and Rs 105 to Rs 128 and Rs 107 a kg respectively.
