Three illegal immigrants were arrested on Wednesday after they were found in possession of copper cable stolen from a railway station in Limpopo, Hammanskraal police said.
Captain Richard Makhene said the three men, driving towards Johannesburg in a truck loaded with the stolen cable, were arrested by patrolling police.
"Police stopped and searched the truck and found about 1 800 of the stolen property. They are said to be valued at half a million and were reportedly stolen in Limpopo," Makhene said.
Two of the men were from Mozambique and one from Malawi.
They are due to appear in the Hammanskraal magistrate's court.
